Pockets of Love and Light

Today is day two of the ASPIRE program. Yesterday was a bit crazy, but often first day of the program is. Sometimes I feel myself getting frustrated with the constraints of rules and regulations. I feel frustrated with parents and coworkers, and even the students. But like today I see the potential, I see something catch my eye that makes my heart warm and I can’t help but smile. As I walked through the dark library of the school, through the window I see a line of kindergartners against the wall waiting. Two boys are talking, one takes his hands and places them on the other boys face and he stretches out that boys face in a large misshapen smile. Their eyes lit up with joy and there giggle are audible to all. I think us as adults or at least myself, miss out on these small moment of joy, these small pockets of love and light. I don’t even know those two young boys, but for that brief moment they brought me pure joy.
