Weiser History: The Church of Chimes

A couple of days ago I got the privilege to go on a walking field-trip with my son Logan and his third grade class. The third graders always get to take this trip, it is a Weiser History field-trip. They go walking around town and learn all the neat things that have happened in Weiser and see and learn about some of the older buildings in town.
Originally Weiser was built on the East side of town, but a bar keeper got drunk and knocked over a lamp and ended up burning the whole town down. The only standing structure left is the little old red  mercantile. The next oldest building is the first church in Weiser, The Church of the Chimes. It is about 129 years old and believed to be built in about 1885 before Idaho was even a state. It was moved from a different location to the east side of town in 1894. They moved it by placing the building on logs and pushing and pulling with horses and carriages.

The wood floors and church pews are believed to be the originals to the building when is was built

In the steeple  is the original bell that ringed at the start and end of service each Sunday.
